Kimi Raikkonen's official return to the Formula 1 arena after agreeing two-year contract with Lotus Renault team, Tuesday (29/11).
Had to leave Formula 1 circuit at the end of 2009 season due to prefer a World Rally Championship (WRC), Raikkonen finally decided to re-enter the racing arena asphalt with a duration of two-year contract with Renault. The contract will run from next year.
"I'm happy to come back to Formula 1 after a break of two years, and I'm grateful to Lotus Renault GP who has offered me this opportunity," said Raikkonen at the Autosport.
"When I was in the World Rally Championship, I did have a good stage in my career as a racer, but I can not deny the fact that my hunger for F1 recently become big," he explained.
"It was an easy decision to return with Lotus Renault. I am very impressed with the ambition of the team. Now I can not wait to play an important role in encouraging my team to be at the forefront," said Raikkonen further.
Not to forget, Renault owner, Gerard Lopez welcomed Raikkonen to Enstone. He also claimed to always look forward to the comeback of the Finnish racer.
"Kimi decision to return to Formula 1 with us is our first step to become a serious contender for other drivers. Of course, we all are looking forward to be working with world-class racers. On behalf of our staff, I would like to welcome Kimi to Enstone, "Lopez said.
